Gate at the Port of Paros

“The ferry arrived slightly ahead of schedule. The summer season was in full swing so the boats were appearing at Parikia every 90 minutes. Stavros took a moment to roll another cigarette, contemplating his upcoming retirement. At the age of 49 the allure of a government pension in just over a year made 50 seem aeons away. Lighting up, the smoke curled deliciously through his moustache, as he kicked off one of his yachtie shoes while barking orders at the deckhands awaiting the coming ferry. It was just another hot Paros afternoon.”
